Penfolds is a winery in South Australia known for its Shiraz and Bordeaux blend wines.
Vintage:

Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon

Region: South Australia

Interpretation: This is a well structured wine with abundant tannins and color for its price point. The bANT:pTAN ratio of 0.21 is high and contributes to the wine's plush characteristic. The 0.45 pTAN:IRP ratio suggests that it was thoroughly extracted during fermentation/maceration. Interestingly, yellowing is fairly advanced with a b* of 15.5. This may be a result of temperature fluctuations during shipping in combination with a screw cap closure.

Australia

Australia is renowned for its bold and expressive Shiraz, world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, and diverse white wines like Chardonnay, Riesling, and Semillon. Spanning a range of climates, from the hot and dry Barossa Valley to the cool, maritime conditions of Margaret River and Tasmania, Australia’s wine regions benefit from a combination of diverse terroirs, including sandy loam, red clay, and ancient granite soils. These varied conditions allow for both powerful, fruit-forward styles and refined, elegant expressions.
